Social Media Statement

As of August 6, 2025, I’ve decided to step away from social media both personally and professionally.

Please understand, my decision isn’t a critique of anyone who uses or enjoys social media themselves. I know these tools and platforms make it both easy to stay in touch with friends and up to date with the goings-on in the world. And there’s nothing wrong with either of those things. But I’ve also known for a while that for me, personally, social media just isn’t where I belong.

For one, as an author of children’s books, I have to be careful about what I am communicating to others. And this goes beyond just what I write in my books. It also has to do with what my young readers see me prioritizing and participating in. As a parent myself, I recognize that we are all struggling to know what’s the best approach for social media use by our kids. We have all seen and heard about the dangers of it and are rightfully concerned. And I simply do not want my presence on social media to make that any more complicated than it already is for any parent who is giving my books to their children.

But, in addition to these concerns, I’ve also found that I personally just don’t enjoy social media. I don’t enjoy the way it upsets people—including me. I don’t enjoy feeling guilty about not keeping it updated. I don’t enjoy the way it can be a distraction from doing real work. Mostly, I just don’t enjoy the “noise” of it. I operate at my best in quiet spaces where I can think deeply about the things I believe matter most. For me, that sort of physical and mental environment is most conducive to producing and creating the things I want to produce and create in this world.

I recognize that, in some ways, this decision will make it more difficult for me to spread the word about my books. But after much consideration, I’ve concluded that it’s still worth it to me in the end. Not only will it clear my head for producing more books that my readers will enjoy, but it will also allow me to engage with folks in more personal and authentic ways that feel more natural to me.

That said, my monthly newsletter remains the best way to stay in touch and up to date with the things I am working on. If you are not subscribed to that already, I hope you will do so by visiting HuntClubKids.com/JoinTheClub/. You can also reach out any time by using the contact form located at HuntClubKids.com/Contact/.

I do look forward to hearing from you soon! And I am grateful to each and every one of you for sharing the word about my books with someone you believe will enjoy them. Thank you!
